Introducing…

Saxellum Logan of Belmonte Godiva

I am proud to announce the newest addition to our family Saxellum Logan of Bel Monte-Godiva. Logan is a joint venture between Godiva and our long time friends at Bel Monte kennels. Recently I was told by my friend Renzo Carosio that he had bred a dog that he felt would be important to the breed, whether he stayed in Italy or if he went to North America he had the potential to be able to make an important contribution to the breed. Upon hearing this I immediately jumped up and said “is he for sale and can I buy him?” Renzo agreed to sell him to me along with Ed Hodas from Bel Monte. After examining the pedigree and seeing pictures of him I was convinced Renzo was right, this could indeed be a very important dog. Logan is double bred Italian Champion Boris, meaning he has Boris on both sides of his pedigree. IT. CH. Boris is the father of Logan’s sire Derek. The dam is a product of a Boris daughter bred to Italian Champion Ciro. Looking at Logan is like looking at a twin to a young Boris. Derek is also a clone to his famous father. So Logan is a line bred dog consistent with the important dogs in his pedigree, something that is very rare in this breed on either side of the ocean. When I took Logan out of the crate at the airport the first word that came to mind was bravo! As a matter of fact I even considered changing his name to “Bravo” that’s how much I was impressed with him. He was a strapping 49lbs at 3 1/2 months old with this truly outstanding head and bone. Even after a grueling 9 hour flight and 2 hour ordeal in customs he popped out of the crate and was friendly, affectionate and curious.
